Brush Stroke

(written in response to the challenge Erin references in her post below)

Brush Stroke

Flushed from the bush like a finch by the cat,
the grasshopper jumps into the grass sprung loose

from the fuchsia--that disgusting shade of pink--
azalea in full bloom, the chartreuse insect is chased

down by the black and white three-legged cat that looks
remarkably like he just stepped out of Japanese print,

his back painted with meaningful strokes of ink; one
artful pounce and the neon green snack is gulped down.

Laurel
You did it admirably and made me smile (or wince) in the process:-)

After walking away from it, it struck me that I should've modified that cat just to add a wee bit of tension. It will either be the dead man's cat or the widow's cat in an future draft.

Thanks for the feedback. Excellent challenge Erin posted--and god, I'm a fool for a challenge.

That damn cat! Can't make up it's mind what it wants to be. Is this your cat?

I'm sure it will be funny, this one sure is!!

Ah haaaaaaaaa!

I've read on your blog- the insects are driving you crazy.

No wonder you are munching grasshoppers!!

Wishing you quiet,
